Crime and Punishment


  • This term we will be looking at states of matter and how they change.
  • We will be looking at the properties of gases, liquids and solids.
  • We will be looking at the changes that can  happen to these things.
  • Investigating dissolving and reversible and irreversible changes.



  • Research using the internet
  • Experiment with images -adding special effects
  • Save work in the appropriate form


Personal, Social, Citizenship and Health Education

  • Maintaining our Golden rules

  • Budgeting
  • Debt


  • What is a crime?
  • Does the punishment fit the crime?
  • We will be looking at crime and punishment all the way back to the Roman’s up to present day.


What you can do at home

  • Celebrate their successes and reinforce the importance of good behavior at school.
  • Help children think about the value of money, different jobs receive different amounts of money.



  • Converting between fractions decimals and percentages.
  • Finding fractions of numbers and shapes.
  • Adding, subtracting, dividing and timesing fractions
  • Factors and prime numbers
  • Shapes
  • Angles


What you can do at home

  • Times tables will be given as homework every week. Please help your children to learn them.
  • When cutting things up at home, talk to children about what fraction you may have cut something into (halves, quarters, fifths)
  • When out and about, ask children if they can help you find percentages of prices.




The children will be looking at graffiti this half term.

They will be debating whether graffiti is art or a crime?

Also, children will be using digital images to create posters.




  • PE days are MONDAY and Friday
  • Homework will be weekly times tables and spellings sent out on Thursday.
  • Children will be tested on spellings and times tables  on Wednesday.

Wednesday 15th February




  • Listening Skills
  • Speaking confidently in a small group and whole class situations
  • Children will be looking at the novel—holes.
  • Retrieving and inferring information given.
  • Create a setting description of Camp Green Lake.
  • Write a narrative piece about how the characters ended up at camp.
  • Using our joined handwriting in all books.


What you can do at home

Listen to your child read everyday

Practise spellings with your child.

Discuss the book your child is reading (Holes—Lewis Sachar)

We are having a big push on vocabulary this half term: talk about new words you might come across together and discuss the meaning.
