At Shortbrook Primary School every child is special and valued as an individual.
We expect and enable all children to achieve their best. Success and effort is always rewarded at our school.
Following consultation with parents, pupils and staff, it was agreed that the curriculum and all elements of school life should be driven by the following values;
These values are personal to the school and the needs of the children at Shortbrook Primary School. These values inform the design, delivery and evaluation of the school. We pride ourselves in providing a curriculum which is rich and broad in knowledge and skills, meets the needs of the children, and prepares the children to be successful in challenges in the future. We believe in our pupils achieving the highest possible standards, not only in their academic work but in their attitude to life and their understanding of their role as future successful citizens in the twenty-first century.
Our children become actively involved through:
Our aim is to ensure that children develop and sustain a love of learning and we track pupil progress rigorously in order to set accurate and personal targets for improvement.
We have a system of rewards within school which recognises the hard work and achievement that goes on daily. Stickers and house points are loved by all our children.
We know that high self esteem and confidence are vital to ensuring the best possible life chances for our children. Whilst we encourage our children to excel in academic work, we also support each child to make decisions about their own development and progress, the development of the school and how we as a school engage with the local and extended community.
